Family Therapy

Family dynamics are often complicated. Next Step Psychology can help families navigate a variety of issues such as coping and adjusting to change resulting from separation, divorce, or remarriage. Family sessions can help blended families to efficiently cope with change associated with remarriage. Other families may benefit from support in learning how to cope with chronic illness or death of a family member. Next Step Psychology also works with same-sex couples and their children to address stressful issues.

Family therapy services are provided similarly to individual therapy. Services begin with a 60 minute diagnostic intake session designed to collect background information, learn about the current issues, and to develop an appropriate plan. All future family therapy sessions are 45 minutes in duration and can involve any combination of family members. These sessions are flexible and are scheduled at the convenience of the family members involved.
